The Jesuserian Society An Interdenominational community of Brothers and Sisters striving to follow the simple path of Jesus of Nazareth by serving the world’s poor and hungry. The Jesuserian Motto: Do as much as you can ~ for as many as you can ~ as often as
you can. The essence of the
message of Jesus of Nazareth can be summarized in ONLY
TWENTY WORDS. “There is one God; I will love God with all my heart and love all others as I
love myself.” |

Jesuserians seek to live the TWENTY
WORDS by following this vow. |

The Jesus Promise I vow to follow the simple way
of love and service to others that Jesus taught. I vow to live a life of simplicity
in dress and manner, taking from the earth only what I need to live
comfortably, and sharing freely with others. I vow to live a life of
non-attachment. I own
nothing. All that I have belongs
to God, and I have only been entrusted with God’s possessions. When I give to others of God’s
goods, I do not expect thanks, for I have given nothing of myself. I vow to live a life of
generosity. I will share the
blessings of God on my life with those in need whom God brings across my
path. I will not hoard money or
possessions while others live in need. I vow to live a life of
humility. When possible, I will
apologize to those I offend in word or deed. I will treat all others as equals and
honor none above another. I vow to treat all others as I wish
to be treated. I will be kind to
all of God’s creatures, both great and small. Beyond my needs, I will not take life,
for I did not give it. I vow to love others just as
they are without trying to change them into the way I wish they were. I vow to perform unplanned acts
of kindness when opportunities arise with no expectation of reward. My single purpose in life is to
love and serve others; to leave things better than I found them; to consider
the common good above my own; and I will perform this task to the best of my
ability so help me God. |

WHAT IS THE JESUSERIAN SOCIETY? The Jesuserian
Society was incorporated as a non-profit corporation in the United States of
America on June 13, 2001 with a mission to find the
ecumenical center and substance of the simple message of Jesus. We do not have a formal creed beyond
the TWENTY WORDS, “There is one
God; I will love God with all my heart, and love all others as I love myself.” Since the
inception of the Society, the founders have remained anonymous and behind the
scenes because they do not wish a following or any special respect or
honor. Jesuserians do not honor
one person above another. The
history or the society and the founders are not important – the message
is. Any person who so desires can
become a member of this religious order if he/she chooses to make the vow of
love and service to others. No
one will ever give them orders, ask for donations, or make demands of any
kind on them beyond the demands they make on themselves with the vow and the
TWENTY WORDS that capture the message of Jesus. You must discipline yourself to be a
Jesuserian; no one will do it for you. The
Jesuserian Society does not solicit funds and will not accept donations of
any kind. If you have money to
give away, give it to the poor.
Money sent to this society will be returned to the sender. If there is no return address, all
funds received will be given to a charity that
benefits the poor. There are
no paid staff members in this Society.
The website is maintained by an anonymous Jesuserian who serves as
Senior Servant and bears all related expenses. If you personally wish to help the
society, spread the word about this site any way you choose. There are
no membership rolls in the Jesuserian Society in the normal sense of the
word. The name “Jesuserian” belongs
solely to the incorporated society and may not be used by any group or person
other than those who become members of the Society. Membership is open to anyone who is
willing to voluntarily obey the Rules of the Order;
make the Jesuserian Vow; and believes the TWENTY WORDS. Jesus
taught people how to live more than he taught them what to believe. There is practically no credible
historical account of Jesus telling anyone what to believe; rather he repeatedly told people how to live. Incredible amounts of energy are spent
on trying to defend a creed or denomination. This useless waste of energy could be
better spent feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, housing the homeless,
and serving the poor. These are
the issues that mattered to Jesus and these are the issues that matter to
Jesuserians. The Jesuserian Vow
is a pledge that Jesuserians make and repeat often which gives them moral
direction and discipline about how to live a life in the same manner that
Jesus lived his life. To be like
Jesus is every Jesuserian’s ultimate goal. Becoming
a Jesuserian is a mature decision; therefore, no one should join the Society
who is under 18 years old. No one
should join the Society who has not read the material on this website,
including the Questions and Answers
and the rules of order. If you have read and understood what
it means to be a Jesuserian, we invite you to join us and serve the poor. I want to join the Jesuserian Society. |
